Hello Penno Families,
I hope everyone has been keeping well in these most challenging of times we all face. It’s a new way of life we have been asked to embrace and in typical Aussie fashion we are all doing our bit for the benefit of everyone.
At this stage there is no new update that we can share with you regarding the 2020 football season. The status remains unchanged – suspended until May 31st. The AFL have stated they plan on making an announcement in early May regarding the top-level AFL season and our understanding is a community football announcement will also happen around then or soon after. We are still optimistic that we will get the kids on the park for a season of football, however, we are ultimately guided by our governing body, AFL NSW/ACT. Some of you may have noted the comments recently by the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Brendon Murphy, where he hinted community sport could be one of the first things reviewed by the National Cabinet. Let’s hope this happens – yes it would be great to have some footy action but more so this would be another sign that we are winning our health battle. As soon as we have any updates we will share. Otherwise, the following website has AFL updates https://play.afl/content/covid-19/
There is some positive news to share – the Ern is looking spectacular. Goal posts are up and the ground has been marked up ready for some action.
If you are after some great footy drills to do with your kids – check in with your coaches as they have a number of YouTube clips that they can share. Furthermore, if you have any great footage of your kids doing some great trick shots or have developed some great home isolation drills – let us know and we will post on our Facebook page.
Finally, we have many Penno families who work within the Emergency Services and Healthcare sector and your contribution to the pandemic is remarkable. I am firm believer in you can never say thank you enough – thank you for everything you do!
Stay safe, healthy and happy everyone. We hope to see you soon.
