Important Club Update
22 MAY | BY GRAEME DE VALLANCE
Hello Club Members,
Yesterday we received advice from AFL NSW/ACT that the NSW Government has approved the AFL Community ‘Return to Training’ guidelines. This is a very positive step forward which I am sure will put a lot of smiles on kids’ faces. It is important to note though there are strict protocols (http://aflnswact.com.au/return-to-play/) that we must all adhere to and as a club we are putting in place steps to ensure they are followed. There are various stages to the return to training guidelines with a phased approach to a full return of ‘contact training sessions and games’. These phases are being reviewed constantly and as we move through each we will communicate the changes.
The Pennant Hills Committee met last night and agreed formal training is to resume the week beginning June 1. As such your Coach and Manager will be in contact next week to discuss next steps and training expectations. We are working towards a goal of starting our season early-mid July, as I am sure you can all appreciate nothing is certain, but rest assured every effort is being made to get our kids on the park – whilst not compromising safety.
For our young stars of the game (Auskickers/Under 8’s) we have to wait a little longer for training to commence. As soon as we have a confirmed date of return we will let you know.
We are one step closer and with your help to ensuring compliance to guidelines we will be hearing that siren very soon whilst dodging our Ern Holmes Kookaburras !
Stay safe, healthy and happy everyone.
