Pennant Hills Junior AFL Club – PHJAFC (as part of the Northwest Lightning Alliance – NWL) have launched a NSW/ACT first initiative to introduce BoobArmour’s protective inserts in the U9s-U17s girls’ competition.

As part of the trial program, PHJAFC’s Community Sponsor – Concrete Reinforcement Services – will be funding all U17’s NWL players to receive a set of inserts, free-of-charge, to trial throughout the 2024 season.

BoobArmour’s products are licensed by both the AFL and AFLW, with the trial program fully supported by AFL NSW-ACT.

Suzie Betts (Founder & CEO of Boob Armour):

“As a passionate advocate for the safety and well-being of young athletes, I am thrilled to see Pennant Hills Junior Football Club take a bold step forward in prioritising the protection of their players. Introducing breast protection as a duty of care is not just a significant move; it’s a revolutionary leap towards ensuring the long-term safety of our youth in sports.

“With the support of AFL NSW-ACT, this initiative not only highlights the importance of safeguarding young athletes but also demonstrates a collective commitment to nurturing a culture of safety within our sporting communities. Together, we are empowering parents with the confidence that their children, particularly girls, are comprehensively protected as they pursue their athletic dreams”.

Steph Clarke (Women and Girls Community Football Lead – NSW/ACT):

“The AFL NSW/ACT are supportive of the trial, with Pennant Hills Demons/NWL being the first junior club in NSW/ACT to undertake the program. The trial aims to improve the experience of Women and Girls at the Club, promote, and enhance safety standards and promote confidence and peace of mind, allowing them to focus on their performance and development on the field.”
